SUDS ON THE SHORE HOMEBREW CONTEST
RULES AND REGULATIONS PART 1 – HOW TO ENTER 1. How do I enter? a.) Log on to www.sudsontheshore.com and follow the on screen entry instructions. Fill out the Entry Form and Bottle Identification Forms b.) Fold and rubber band the entry form to one sample bottle and rubber band a bottle identification form to each of the other three (3) bottles. c.) Pack your bottles carefully. d.) Ship or drop off your entries to the address provided. Entries sent to the wrong address will be disqualified. Packages with postage due or COD charges will be returned to sender. DO NOT SHIP YOUR ENTRIES VIA THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE 2. Which category do I enter? You decide. Enter your beer in the category where you feel it will perform best. No Wines, Ciders or Meads will be accepted Judges or Organizers will not reclassify your entry 3. What kind of bottles are required? 12 oz bottles are preferred in brown or green glass, free of ink, paint, or paper, other than entry labels. Obliterate any lettering or graphics on the cap with a permanent marker. Bottles with Grolsch style swing caps are not allowed. Corked bottles meeting the above restrictions are acceptable; however, you must crimp a cap over the cork. Bottles not meeting these requirements will be disqualified. 4. How many bottles do I need? Send four (4) bottles with your entry. Your bottles will not be returned. 5. What is the entry fee? $10.00 per style Make checks payable to: United Way of Mason County 6. When is the entry deadline? Your four (4) bottles, along with the completed entry forms must be received at the receiving site prior to Friday, July 29, 2011. 7. Are there entry limitations? a.) You may not enter more than one (1) entry per category. b.) Entries are limited to HOMEbrew. Your homebrew must not be brewed at a place that brews beverages for commercial purposes, whether for commercial research, production, or any other purpose, including brewpubs and other brew-on-premises establishments or is brewed for commercial sale, c.) You must include the names of any and all individuals who helped in the development of the recipe or brewing process under “Co-Brewer” on your entry form. Being listed as a co-brewer does not exclude someone from sending in their own entry. d.) No Wines, Ciders or Meads will be accepted. e.) Total number of entries will be limited to the first 100 received. 8. Where do I send my entry? Jamesport Brewing Co. 410 S. James St. Ludington, MI 49431 PART 2. INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING THE FORM 1. Entry Form a.) Complete all information requested on the form. Incomplete forms will be disqualified. b.) Type or print all information clearly. c.) Be sure to fill out the category you are entering. JUDGES AND ORGANIZERS WILL NOT CLASSIFY OR RECLASSIFY YOUR ENTRIES PART 3. THE DETAILS 1. General a.) This competition is open to non-professional HOMEBREWERS who are residents of the United States and are at least 21 years of age. b.) Each contestant will be considered an individual entry even if several names appear on the entry form. c.) The Ludington Suds on the Shore Committee reserves the right to change these rules in order to, at its sole discretion, secure the proper administration of the contest. d.) Entering this competition constitutes permission for the Ludington Suds on the Shore to use the name of your recipe, your name and picture in future promotional activities including, but not limited to, Internet web site, posters, flyers and other items used to advertise future festivals and contests. 2. Judging a.) Judging of entries will be done on Saturday, July 30, 2011. b.) This is BJCP sanctioned event and all judging will be done in accordance with established BJCP guidelines by BJCP certified judges. 3. Disqualification Entries may be disqualified at the sole discretion of the Ludington Suds on the Shore committee for eligibility of entry requirement infractions. 4. Packing and Shipping Hints Carefully pack your entry in a sturdy box. Line the inside of your box with a sturdy plastic bag or liner. Partition and pack each bottle with adequate packaging material. Do not over pack! Please do not use packing peanuts. Use newspaper, cardboard or bottle wrap instead. Your package should weigh less than 25 lbs. Every reasonable effort will be made to contact entrants whose bottles have broken during shipment, to send replacement bottles. Your bottles will not be returned! It is not against any federal laws to ship via a privately owned shipping company for analytical purposes. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SHIP ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES VIA THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. Private shipping carriers rules and regulations concerning the shipment of beer or alcoholic beverages vary. Please check with your carrier prior to shipping your entry. It is solely the responsibility of the entrant to follow all applicable laws and regulations. |
